Being Alone And Not Having Friends
Updated: Aug 3

Corner babes, I know what it feels like to walk into school and feel like you're just... there. You're not part of the main friend group, you don't have that one best friend everyone knows you for, and somehow you always end up being the floater friend. You're invited sometimes, but never all the time. No one really claims you as their person. And honestly? That feeling hurts more than people realize.
I get it, queens. It's hard. It's challenging. Watching everyone else laugh in their little circles while you're wondering where you fit in can make you feel like there's something wrong with you. You start asking yourself questions you should never have to ask. "Am I boring?" "Did I do something?" "Why does everyone else seem to have their people except me?"
But here's what I've learned: being alone doesn't mean you're unworthy of friendship. Sometimes it just means you haven't found the people who truly see you yet.
School can be such a strange place. So many friendships are built on convenience. You sit next to someone in class, you're on the same sports team, or you've known each other since elementary school. It doesn't always mean those friendships are deep or forever. It just means your paths crossed at the right time. That doesn't mean your time won't come too.
If you're the one eating lunch alone sometimes, walking the halls by yourself, or spending weekends wishing someone would text you first, I want you to know you're not the only one. So many people feel this way but never admit it because everyone is trying so hard to look like they have it all together.
And please, don't let being left out convince you to change who you are. Don't shrink yourself just to fit into a group that only notices you when it's convenient. You deserve friends who think of you first, who save you a seat, who get excited when you walk into the room, and who make you feel like you belong without having to earn it every single day.
I know it feels lonely right now, but this chapter isn't forever. Some of the strongest friendships happen after high school, after college, at work, through hobbies, or in the most unexpected places.
The people you're meant to find won't make you question whether you're wanted.
Until then, be kind to yourself. Take yourself out for coffee, romanticize your own company, find hobbies that make you happy, and remember that your worth has never been measured by how many people invite you somewhere.
And if no one has told you today, let me be the first: you belong here. This little corner of the internet is for every girl who's ever felt like the floater friend, the girl who never had a group chat blowing up her phone, or the one who wondered why friendship seemed so easy for everyone else. You're not weird. You're not unlovable. You're not too much or not enough.
You're just waiting for the people who will love you exactly as you are.
