Can Someone Love You But Still Treat You Badly?

I think the answer is yes. Someone can love you, care about you, miss you, and still treat you in ways you don't deserve. That’s what makes some relationships so confusing. The love can be real, but that doesn’t automatically make someone a good partner.

Someone can love you and still be selfish, emotionally immature, inconsistent, or bad at communicating. But at some point, you have to separate how someone feels about you from how they actually treat you.

Love shouldn’t be the excuse for constantly feeling hurt, ignored, or disappointed.

Everyone makes mistakes, but there’s a difference between a mistake and a pattern. An apology followed by changed behavior means something. An apology followed by the same behavior over and over doesn’t.

Maybe the bigger question isn’t, “Do they love me?” Maybe it’s, “Is the way they love me enough for me?” Because someone can love you and still not be the right person for you. What do you think, Corner Babes? Can someone truly love you and still treat you badly?

An Interview With Sydney

Kelly:  For anyone being introduced to Sydney J for the first time, how would you describe yourself and your music?

Sydney:  I’d describe my music as peaceful, introspective, and beautiful.

As a person, I’d say I’m thoughtful, goofy, emotional, and soft.

Kelly When did you realize music was something you wanted to seriously pursue?

Sydney:  Around 15. I played a lot of instruments and eventually focused on viola, but later realized my real passion was songwriting, producing, and connecting with people through my music.

Kelly:  Where do you find inspiration for your songs?

Sydney:  Mostly from observing the world around me and thinking about why people do what they do. Sometimes it also comes from personal experiences and emotions that I feel deeply.

Kelly: What has being a young woman in the music industry taught you?

Sydney:  That you can’t please everyone. The people who love what I do will support me, and the people who don’t connect with it don’t have to. I’ve learned to focus more on being myself instead of trying to appeal to everyone.

Kelly:  Have you noticed anything surprising about support as an artist?

Sydney:  Definitely. Sometimes people I barely know support my work more than close friends do, which can be surprising. It’s taught me a lot about who genuinely pays attention and supports what I’m creating.

Why Having Good Friends Is Better Than Having Multiple

Having a lot of friends can be fun, but having a few genuinely good friends means so much more. As you get older, you start to realize that friendship isn’t really about how many people are in your circle—it’s about who actually shows up for you when it matters. The friends you can trust, celebrate with, cry to, laugh with, and be completely yourself around are worth so much more than a huge group of people you barely feel connected to.

There is something so comforting about knowing you have people in your life who truly understand you. You don’t have to explain every little thing, constantly wonder where you stand, or feel like you have to act a certain way just to fit in. Good friendships should feel natural, supportive, and safe. They should be the kind of relationships where both people genuinely want to see each other grow and succeed.

A smaller circle can also bring so much peace. Sometimes having too many friendships can become overwhelming, especially when you are trying to keep up with everyone and maintain connections that may not even feel genuine anymore. It is completely okay for your circle to get smaller as you grow and change.

You don’t need ten best friends, you just need people who make you feel loved, supported, comfortable, and appreciated. At the end of the day, quality will always mean more than quantity.

 Is this justified?

Let’s admit it: sometimes you meet someone and, for absolutely no reason, you just don’t like them. They haven’t done anything to you, they haven’t said anything wrong, and you can’t even explain what it is. Something about their energy just doesn’t click with yours.

And honestly, I think that’s okay. You’re not going to connect with every person you meet, and you shouldn’t force yourself to like someone just because you don’t have a “valid” reason not to. But there is a difference between not liking someone and treating them badly. You can decide that someone isn’t your type of person without being rude, talking badly about them, or making them feel uncomfortable. Sometimes personalities simply don’t mix, and that doesn’t necessarily mean either person did anything wrong.

You also might want to ask yourself why you feel that way. Is it really intuition, or does that person remind you of someone from your past? Are you judging them before getting to know them? Sometimes our first impressions are right, and sometimes they are completely wrong. At the end of the day, you don’t owe everyone friendship, but everyone deserves basic respect. You can dislike someone, keep your distance, and still be kind. What do you think, Corner Babes? Is it okay to dislike someone for absolutely no reason?
